About Edelweiss – the hero ingredient:
This pollution-clearing facial cleanser belongs to the brand’s Edelweiss range. But what is Edelweiss, and how does it benefit our skin? I researched it and found this information on the brand’s page.
Edelweiss is a rare mountain flower that grows in Alpine environments. It’s only found at very high altitudes, between 1500 and 3000m, where it defies extreme environmental conditions, including strong winds, frost, and volatile temperatures.
It produces its own antioxidant, called leontopodic acid and it is this antioxidant that allows the flower to protect itself from harsh environmental aggressors, helping it to survive and thrive on the mountainside. Around 80% of the daily damage that our skin goes through is caused by environmental aggressors like pollution, gases and dust particles. Daily exposure to these aggressors can take a toll on the complexion, causing skin to feel dry, dull and sapped of vibrance. Since this tiny flower is such a master of resilience, we made it the superstar ingredient in our Edelweiss range. What’s more, our new edelweiss extract has been proven to be more powerful than well-known antioxidants on the market such as retinol.
Now, it’s all clear why everyone raves about this mighty flower, Edelweiss! By the way, the brand is running an amazing promotion wherein you can get this cleanser absolutely free if you spend £30 on skincare products!

My Experience with The Body Shop® Edelweiss Cleansing Concentrate (Review):
(Skin type: Combination-dry, dehydrated, acne-prone & sensitive)
If you’re following me on IG, you have seen that I received this face wash as a PR sample from the brand with their other products, including the Edelweiss serum concentrate. I used this cleanser once a day regularly for a few weeks and then reduced the frequency and started using it only on weekends (outing days).
I kept it aside for December month, because I wanted to take it with me to India. I prefer using purifying/detox face washes while traveling. And since this is a pollution-clearing cleanser, it fits the bill! Now, after using this face wash for a long time, I’m ready to share my thoughts here with you .

I have a combination skin that turns dry during the cold winter months and oily & sweaty during the hot summer seasons. This information is for those that are new to my blog .
Usually, I like using gentle face washes for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. But I keep rotating my face washes as per skin conditions and weather. Even though my skin is combination-dry, it acts weird at times. So basically, I stock up on face washes with all formulas (foamy/creamy/moisturizing/oil-infused/gel-based), especially the mild, SLS-free ones. You never know when you will need them !
Packaging:
The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate comes in a 100ml tube with a flip-top cap. The body of the packaging has all the important product-related details. I sealed it well while traveling, and thankfully I didn’t face any leakage issues.
Texture:
The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate has a gel texture with a runny consistency. I wish the consistency were a bit thicker! Please be cautious while taking out the product. It has a sweet fragrance that doesn’t last long and is not overpowering.

How I use The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate?
I wash my face with normal water first. Then I take a pea-sized amount onto my fingertips and apply it directly to my damp cheeks. This way, it lathers well, and I like it. Also, a little amount goes a long way!
How does it work? Performance of The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate:
The brand describes this product as a gel-to-water cleanser that transforms from a translucent formula to a gentle bubbly foam (thanks to Cocamidopropyl Betaine), and it’s so true! It works like that only and doesn’t produce frothy foam. So if you gravitate toward the foaming face washes (like their tea-tree foaming face wash), it might disappoint you! Now, of course, if you apply way too much product, it’ll give that foamy effect but will dry out your skin as well! Follow the ‘less is more’ concept here .
The Body Shop® has revamped its ‘Drops of Youth’ line, and the Edelweiss range is the improved version of the former range. Since I have never tried any product from their ‘Drops of Youth’ line, I can’t compare them. Sorry!
As a face wash, The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate is super effective. It cleanses my skin well by removing impurities without drying out the skin. Moreover, you need only a tiny amount of this cleanser for your face and neck, and voila! It leaves your skin feeling fresh, clean, and soft.

Honestly, I was skeptical about its hydrating and makeup-removing capabilities. For the record, I never rely on face washes for makeup. I remove my makeup neatly with micellar water, followed by a purifying face wash, so I don’t end up with acne. I used the same method with this cleanser, and thankfully it kept my enemy acne at bay! It alone won’t remove your makeup, especially eye makeup. I also ensure moisturizing my skin with lovely hydrating serums and creams post usage. My dehydrated skin always craves hydration, LOL !
This pollution-clearing Edelweiss face wash is my go-to cleanser for travel days. True to its claim, it fought against the pollution and kept my sensitive skin soft yet shine and acne free throughout the long three weeks trip. All thanks to the presence of mountain flower Edelweiss stem cell extract in the product.
It doesn’t impart any glow to the skin, so don’t expect this effect from the cleanser. Its main purpose is to protect our skin from environmental aggressors, and that’s what it does effortlessly and effectively.
That being said, it contains the icky ingredient, fragrance! If you are allergic to it or any ingredients of this product, do a patch test before using this cleanser or avoid it completely. I’ve listed the ingredients with their functions above, so please check them before you make a purchase. For discounts, check the ‘about edelweiss’ section, please .
Overall, I am impressed with The Body Shop® Edelweiss cleansing concentrate .I can manage all my dry skin issues by applying hydrating serums & moisturizers, but I dread getting acne or irritations by using a cleanser! Glad my sensitive, acne-prone skin loves using this product
. My husband has oily skin, and my parents have dry, mature skin. I insisted they try it out for review purposes. My parents said this face wash left their skin dry post-cleansing, but my husband had no issues with it. For people with oily, acne-prone skin, this Edelweiss cleanser is just perfect for regular use.

I hope my detailed review helps you decide whether or not you should purchase it. If you have a similar skin type and issues as mine, go for it. If you have sensitive, oily and acne-prone skin, then definitely give it a shot. If you have dry skin, ensure you follow it with a nourishing moisturizer, and you’re all good! If it still makes your skin dry in the winter, use it in the summertime .
